In the midst of all the chaos of contract renewal delays and show cancellations like The Event, V, Law and Order: Los Angeles, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Enter four new shows for the upcoming fall season:

Alcatraz

Produced by J.J. Abrams, Alcatraz stars Sam Neil, Jorge Garcia and Sarah Jones and has picked up epic LOST writer Elizabeth Sarnoff. The pilot follows a detective investigating the disappearance of a murder from the infamous prison, Alcatraz. There is a lot of intrigue and mystery surrounding Alcatraz and that is why it is one of the shows we can’t wait to see next Fall.

The River

Paranormal Activity‘s writer-director Oren Peli, along with writer Michael R. Perry, co-created this concept and adapted it for television. The River stars Bruce Greenwood, Across the Universe’s Joe Anderson,  and Leslie Hope. The series is about a famous wildlife explorer who goes missing in the Amazon jungle without a trace. His wife and son then set out a course to try to locate him, bringing an entire crew with them to make sure they document all the events. Mysteries, thrills and naturally Paranormal Activity-esque events ensue.

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time stars Big Love‘s Ginnifer Goodwin, House‘s Jennifer Morrison, and Josh Dallas. It is the fantasy love child of epic LOST writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. Once Upon a Time takes place in a small town in Maine and kind of hints on that it might actually be a parallel universe into a fantasy realm. In any case, this show is something we are excited for the coming fall season.

Terra Nova

Produced by legendary writer-director Steven Spielberg, Terra Nova stars Life on Mars’ Jason O’Mara, Avatar’s Stephen Lang and Shelley Conn. The series will follow a family in the year 2149 when they try to escape a dying planet Earth. They are transported via a portal to a prehistoric Earth that dates as far back as 85 million years in the past.
