If you’re fond of long stories, witty humor and nerdy groups of friends who love to recant aforementioned long stories, look no further than in Ted Mosby’s Manhattan apartment. How I Met Your Mother blends together flashbacks and flashforwards to bring you entertaining scenarios with interesting and quirky characters that constantly develop and keep you guessing.

Currently in season 8, How I Met Your Mother is the story of older Ted Mosby, voiced by Bob Saget, telling his children the tale (detail by detail) of how younger Ted Mosby met the children’s mother.  The series stars Josh Radnor as younger Ted Mosby, Neil Patrick Harris as playboy Barney Stinson, Jason Segel as Marshall Ericksen, Coby Smulders as Robin Scherbatsky and Alyson Hannigan as Lily Aldrin. Every episode is engaging and each detail gets us closer and closer to the revelation of that ever elusive mother. And that’s the thing; just when the audience thinks that they have it figured out, another clue or scene unfolds and everything changes. Theories have to be reevaluated. The show fuses together comedy, drama, romance as well as “bromance” to tell its story. Because of this, How I Met Your Mother has received much critical acclaim and has risen to cult classic status.

The show, which is still on the air and is also in syndication, has been described as this generation’s Seinfeld. Seinfeld, which aired in the early 90s and starred Jerry Seinfeld, was as he described it, “a show about nothing’ and revolved around a group of friends in New York City. Despite this modest description, 75 million Americans, the 3rd largest audience of all time in the United States, tuned in to watch the show’s series finale in 1998. If Seinfeld’s success is any indication to How I Met Your Mother’s future, then you definitely don’t want to miss out on this one.

How I Met Your Mother’s season 8 finale will air tonight May 13, 2013 on CBS (Mondays, 7:30 CT) and is the precursor to the beginning of the end of the entire series. Be sure to catch up on episodes of How I Met Your Mother available on Netflix, Hulu and Vudu. Season 9 returns in the fall of 2013 as the last and final season where the show will finally (fingers crossed) reveal the mother. We know it will be worth it!
