Darren Aronofsky leaves The Wolverine
Director Darren Aronofsky has pulled out of the remake of the Wolverine film, 20th Century Fox stated earlier this week.
In a recent statement Aronofsky said, “As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again.”
The Wolverine would have been the 2nd movie he directed that would star Hugh Jackman, the other one being The Fountain.
Aronofsky leaving the film comes as a major blow to the film seeing as how the last Wolverine movie was a disaster and a joke to fans of comic book icon Wolverine. The story was hard to follow, left a lot of unanswered questions and was not true to the comic book story line.
As of yet, 20th Century Fox has not confirmed a replacement director for The Wolverine. The movie was set to be released in 2012.
