In a detailed statement on their news blog, Microsoft is finally confirming fears that the upcoming Xbox One “gaming” console will need to connect to the internet every 24 hours for games to work.  Unless you re-establish a connection, “offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times.” Microsoft will allow you to play games from your digital library on other consoles linked to your account, but in that case you will need to check in every hour.
